JUST IN; Police ban tinted glass cars, unregistered vehicles, motorcycles

The Police has banned vehicles with tinted glass as well as unregistered vehicles and motorcycles in Ogun state.

The Command said that anybody caught driving a tinted glass or an unregistered vehicle, the motorcycle will be arrested and prosecuted, and the car or motorcycle impounded.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Ogun’s state Police Public Relations Officer, made this disclosure in a statementreleased on Thursday.

Oyeyemi said that the Command decided due to the increase and reckless use of unregistered cars which he said are used most times to carry out heinous crimes, citing a recent incident where an ICT lecturer was killed by unknown gunmen who at the time of the crime drove an unregistered Lexus jeep.

Oyeyemi said that owners of vehicles with factory fitted tinted glasses should approach the command’s department of operations for tinted permit certificate, adding that those who use artificially tinted glasses should remove them or face prosecution.

He also said that the Area Commanders and DPOs throughout Ogun state have been directed to enforce the rule, stating that anyone who goes against it will be apprehended and prosecuted according to the laws that govern the land.
