Some ugly sides of makeup

Make up has been in history far back 6000 years ago and it is even believed to be the earliest form of ritual in human culture.

Due to style, trends, demand and revolution in the cosmetic industries, lots of products that serves different purposes has evolved over the years.
With people being judged by their look, woman over the globe has made been compelled to make makeup as one of their major priority.

As a result of the increase in demand for makeup, different kits with different brands and different composition has evolve over the years trying to meet up with increasing demand for the products.
Just as the saying goes, “Everything with an advantage has a disadvantage” but when the negative aspect of a particular thing outweighs its positive aspect, it becomes an issue of concern.
Though makeup has its advantage of artificially enhancing facial look, but it also has couple of disadvantage that are of concern to health which we feel will be proper if we share to educate people on the risk that are associated with these products.
While some of these disadvantages are not severe, some are very severe and should not be trivialize. Because of the composition of most makeup kits, they pose as threat to those patronizing them, some of these disadvantages are what we will discuss in this article.
ACNE: This effect is very common that most women who apply makeup often would have experienced. Acne result from blockage of the air pores in the skin by some makeups in form of liquids and creams. When the air pores in the skin are blocked by these makeups, breathing and growth of the skin will be impeded giving rise to formation of blackheads which if not cleaned often will result in acne.

EYE INFECTION: One sensitive part of the body is the eyes and as such, should be handled with utmost care. While applying makeup in the eye region, there is a tendency that some of it may slip into the eyes which gradually may lead to eye damage. In addition, the use of too much eyeliner and mascara will become a suitable environment for the growth and breeding of bacteria as well as inhibiting the growth of eyelashes.

AGING: This aspect of makeup is something that can’t be hidden due to the fact that it becomes obvious over time of usage. When they are used over a long period of time, the chemical contained in them gradually leads to permanent damage of the skin which will require plastic surgery to be corrected. The skin gradually start aging with wrinkled signs or patchiness on your face.

SKIN DISCOLORATION: Using cosmetics with chemical composition regularly can have adverse effect on the skin and could even lead to permanent skin damage. Chemicals like bleaching agents and other harmful chemicals are the major composition of Skin products like sunscreens, moisturizers, toners, and creams. In addition to dangerous chemicals, there are alsop some skin products that are produced with poor or substandard ingredients that have the ability to cause skin discoloration. The effect could be patches, pigmentation, uneven skin tone, redness, and freckles.

SKIN ALLERGIES: Most makeups are preserved with chemicals known as Parabens which includes ethyl-paraben, butyl-paraben, and isopropyl-paraben to prevent bacterial growth in cosmetics. Parabens is a major cause of various allergic reactions like skin irritation, blotches, and blemishes on the skin. Another common allergen in cosmetics is Salicylate which can cause an outbreak of painful rashes or hives if you have sensitive skin.

Even if you must use makeup, don’t make it become something you can’t do without, make sure you clean your face with natural cleanser before going to bed, make sure your read about the composition of the brand and what they do before applying, learn about the side effects of such compositions, don’t patronize makeup made from substandard materials and above all, be sure to read labels on any kit before planning on applying it….
