Wayne Rooney scores first goal for Everton

Kenyan Premier League champions, Gor Mahia were fortunate to play host to Everton after securing the right after winning the regional SportPesa Super Cup, which featured teams from Tanzania against those from Kenya. The visit was aimed at helping to break the stigma against people with albinism who risk being killed in Tanzania.
Wayne Rooney who appeared to be one of the most celebrated player in the Everton squad was able to maek his debut by scoring an astonishing goal at 35 minutes from 25 yards for his side making it his first goal for Everton since he returned.
The match was played at Tanzanian national stadium in Dar es Salaam, playing host to 35,000 spectators
It appeared that majority of the tanzanian fans were in support of Wayne Rooney as they were seen cheering him before and after the goal including the Tanzanian Vice President who said, ““Wayne Rooney made me support Manchester United and now I don’t know what to do because he has gone back to Everton”, at the end of the game.
Wayne Rooney replied the statement of the Vice President by saying, “Being here, it has been a new experience for me and I hope the vice-president will now be able to support Everton.”
The goal was even cheered by fans of the opposing team, with one dressed in a Manchester United shirt forcing the game to be stopped after invading the pitch to give Rooney a hug. The former England captain responded by returning the favor before the fan was bundled off the pitch.
The match got got more interesting when many of the fans including those that traveled all the way from Kenya and Uganda were heard chanting “Rooney, Rooney”, that was not all as many of the Gor Mahia players stopped him to pose for photographs after the final whistle before he was escorted away.
The mtch eventually ended 2 goals to 1 in favor of Everton.
Aaron Lenon was also seen in the match making his first appearance for Everton since February11 after receiving treatment from stress related illness
